A core tenant of the S2 Cup is that administrative issues are
kept to an absolute minimum. Therefore, the series defers as many rules
as possible to the SCCA Club Racing General Competition Regulations (GCR) and Supplemental Regulations for the races.
Points
The S2 Cup Series consists of a set of specially designated SCCA Club races,
determined at the start of the calendar year. Points earned at each race are applied to the 4 Flight S2 Cup Championship.
The SCCA points system is utilized:
| Place | Points |
| 1st | 12 |
| 2nd | 9 |
| 3rd | 7 |
| 4th | 6 |
| 5th | 5 |
| 6th | 4 |
| 7th | 3 |
| 8th | 2 |
| 9th | 1 |
Points are cumulative for all designated series races.
If a designated race weekend hosts more than one race,
i.e., a National/Regional combination, competitors are encouraged
to maximize track time by competing in both races.
Points from all races contribute to the series championship. All
podiumn finishers receive a prestigious 4 Flight S2Cup hat.
For the championship points total, each competitor will count their best
10 race finishes from the season, regardless of whether they are Saturday or Sunday races.
Given that there are usually 12 to 16 races in the schedule,
this allows drivers to skip an event, or remain
competitive despite an occasional mechanical problem. It also encourages drivers to
race in both races of a double weekend, lest they allow their competition an easy
win.
There are no out-of-series race transfer points allowed.
The winner of each first race gets to take home the prestigious traveling "S2 Cup," a trophy to be returned at the start of the next race.
Summary
Other than points-related rules already covered in this document, there are no special rules for the
S2 Cup. All aspects of race procedure, etc. are ruled by the SCCA Club Racing GCR.
All aspects of mechanical and technical rules are also dictated by what is legal for the S2000
(or S2) class in SCCA Club racing.
If car count is sufficient to justify special requests, the series may lobby the club racing
officials for concessions such as a split start or S2-only run groups.
